Yashwini Raut Krishnan

Namaste! I’m Yashwini, a recent graduate from NYU Gallatin with a Master’s of Arts in Social Design. I have a BFA in Integrated Designs from Parsons School of Design where I graduated with Academic Honors in 2021.

I am a designer and a visual storyteller from Nepal who focuses on designing for a social change. My work centers social issues that either need to be discussed about or portrayed more often.

Specifically, my work often addresses issues that are prevalent in South Asia and situations experienced by brown women in the United States. My focus relies more on storytelling and the message rather than the medium.

I’m very much interested in showcasing stories and designing with communities that are on the other side of the “digital divide”. Sexual assault, colorism and appropriation are some of the other issues that I am the most passionate about.

Interests: Children’s Media, Jewelry Design, Social Justice, Equity centered design, Interactive & Game Design, Social work
